Do Astronomers have spare time? From the looks of my blog it might not seem that way, but we really do have spare time, on weekends mostly! On the weekend I like to garden! But as I live in a share house all my plants live in pots and don't take too much looking after! Which is OK for some plants, but maybe not for others...
I like to cook with fresh herbs and ingredients so when I moved out I would buy the herbs from Woolies or Coles but they would go off before I could use them all.... So I decided to grow my own!
When I lived at home I don't think I was ever able to keep a plant alive for very long, but I was hopeful! I started with some coriander, parsley, rosemary, and mint!

They grew so well! And the mint is starting to take over.... So if you have any mint recipes? As these guys grew I thought that I should add a couple more of my favourite herbs, and Peter's favourites, so I got myself a basil and a chive plant!
The basil plant was 'this big' (see fingers in basil picture) when I got it! It grew that much in a month!! And the leaves taste awesome in a basil and chilli stir-fry!
But today I felt like branching out into some other types of edible plants! I'm not sure how they will go with the whole pot thing, and they may need to be moved into bigger pots as they grow!

The raspberry plant was a bit of a strange choice, but I really like raspberries and this variety is a summer flowering one so I thought it would be nice to see how they grow!
So for the moment this is the extent of my garden! Only edible plants but I'm sure that I'll start growing some nice flowering plants as it is spring time!
